Test Yourself: Proprioception
In this video, I walk you through a few simple self-tests you can do at home to check your proprioception — your body’s “internal GPS” that helps you stay balanced and steady on your feet. You’ll see demonstrations of finger-to-nose testing, quiet standing with eyes closed, and a joint position–matching test. These quick checks can give you a better sense of how well your body is sensing movement and position, and why certain balance challenges might feel harder than they used to. If any of these feel difficult or surprising, don’t worry — proprioception can improve with the right exercises. This is exactly the kind of work we do in the studio to help you move with more confidence and independence.
